MaRS Pitch Competition

The George Brown Fashion Exchange has proudly partnered with MaRS Catalyst Fund to back early-stage Canadian startups developing innovations in sustainable fashion technology. Eligible companies are invited to apply to a pitch competition, where selected finalists have a chance to win $10,000 in funding, and advisory services from MaRS and the George Brown Fashion Exchange. Five finalists will be selected to pitch live to a panel of judges at MaRS Discovery District on October 3rd, 2018. Applications for the pitch competition close on July 30th 2018.

MaRS Catalyst Fund provides early-stage venture capital funding and support to Canadian companies that are building strong businesses while pursuing social and environmental outcomes.

Categories:

Textile Technology
Examples: Reduce environmental impact, longer lasting products, bio-fabrics, textile tracing technology for supply chain transparency, textile recycling.

Water

Examples: Reduction in water usage, detoxification of water streams, reduction in microplastics.

Advanced Manufacturing

Examples: Reduce water and/or energy, new applications (e.g. lumber), reduction of life-cycle impact via new design processes, 3D technology, high-tech printing.

Circular Economy/Textile Recycling

Examples: Innovations to handle textile waste, mechanical and chemical recycling technology, new product development from waste (textile or other material).
