With global fashion industry facing challenges of over-consumption, exploiting labour force and environmental resources, FX was designed to share the growing impact and become a leader in sustainable fashion production. EDUCATION

The Toronto based Fashion Exchange offers today’s aspiring fashion students and active industry professionals both Postgraduate level studies and access to skills based employment training programs taught hands-on in our urban manufacturing facility. Developed in collaboration with industry partners, these programs have been designed to help fill real workplace needs while building in-demand skills for tomorrow’s workforce.

LIST OF PROGRAMS

FAST TRACK

APPAREL FIT TECHNICIAN

The fast track Apparel Fit Technician program allows students to learn and recognize good apparel fit, identify fit problems and how to correct them while learning the different body types and ideal fit standards.

INDUSTRIAL POWER SEWING

The fast track Industrial Power Sewing program teaches students how to operate industrial sewing equipment and to assemble garments for production. Students will learn how to operate single needle, serger and other specialty machines used in garment manufacturing.

WOMEN IN FASHION TECHNOLOGY

The fast track Women in Fashion Technology program provides women the digital and hands on training to secure highly skilled employment in the fashion industry. This NEW Fashion Exchange program includes specializations such as knitting, laser cutting, dye sublimation printing and embroidery.

POST-SECONDARY

APPAREL TECHNICAL DESIGN

This one-year Apparel Technical Design graduate certificate program prepares fashion designers with apparel technical design skills for positions in the apparel industry. Apparel Technical Designers are the link between design and production as they transform a sketch into a full technical package ready for manufacturing a product in quantity.

SUSTAINABLE FASHION PRODUCTION

This post-secondary Sustainable Fashion Production graduate certificate program in Toronto prepares graduates to manage the manufacturing process for small batch apparel products. While the context of this program is apparel, the processes, management tools and knowledge could be applied to product development in other fields
