Fashion Exchange Celebrates International Women’s Day with Inspiring Alumni Panel and Community Event.

March 10, 2026

On Tuesday, March 10, Fashion Exchange at George Brown College hosted a successful International Women’s Day event in Toronto, bringing together alumni, students, designers, and members of the creative community.

Organized by Alumni Relations’ Fashion & Jewellery and Business Chapters in partnership with Fashion Exchange, the event celebrated this year’s theme, “Give to Gain: Volunteerism and Supporting Others,” highlighting the impact of mentorship, community involvement, and giving back within the fashion and business industries.

The event featured an engaging alumni entrepreneur panel discussion with Rachel Ott (Graphic Design), Stephanie Joseph-Flatts (Business), and Sabrina Harding (Fashion). The speakers shared their professional journeys and reflected on how mentorship, collaboration, and supporting others have shaped their careers and personal growth.

Attendees also enjoyed an interactive Q&A session, providing an opportunity for students, emerging designers, and community members to connect with the speakers and gain insights into entrepreneurship and leadership in the creative industries.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of this year’s International Women’s Day scarf, designed by a George Brown Fashion student, Erica Aversa who’s design features an abstract hand offering growth through blooming tulips and sprawling vines. The vines represent resilience, while tulips symbolize renewal and hope. A unique and beautiful piece reflecting the spirit of IWD 2026.

The celebration concluded with networking and refreshments, creating a welcoming space for attendees to build connections and celebrate the spirit of women supporting women in fashion, business, and creative industries.
